About Pregnancy, Labour & Delivery Care

Pregnancy is a journey that needs guidance, regular monitoring and confidence. At Sparsh Mother & Child Hospital, maternity care is combined with pediatric and newborn services under one roof, so that mother and baby are cared for together from the first visit to well after birth.

Antenatal (pregnancy) care

  • Confirmation of pregnancy and early dating scan
  • Regular check-ups with blood pressure, weight and baby growth monitoring
  • Blood tests, urine tests and screening for anaemia, diabetes and infections
  • Ultrasound scans at recommended stages, including the anomaly scan
  • Vaccinations in pregnancy, iron, folic acid and calcium supplementation
  • Guidance on nutrition, exercise, sleep and warning signs
  • Antenatal classes and preparation for labour and breastfeeding

High-risk pregnancy care

Extra monitoring and planning are offered for women with conditions such as high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, twin pregnancy, previous caesarean or miscarriages, thyroid disease, anaemia, or those conceiving after infertility treatment.

Labour and delivery

Our team supports normal delivery whenever it is safe, with pain relief options discussed in advance. Caesarean section is advised only when medically needed for the safety of mother or baby. A pediatric team is available to receive and assess the newborn.

After delivery

Postnatal care includes recovery guidance, breastfeeding support, newborn care, family planning advice, vaccination of the baby and follow-up visits for both mother and child.
